Australia's star players are unavailable

Going into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Australia will be without their many star players due to injuries, personal reasons, and retirement. A List of the key star players is below.

  • Pat Cummins (Knee injury)
  • Josh Hazlewood (Hip Injury)
  • Mitchel March (Back injury)
  • Mitchel Starc (Personal reasons)
  • Marcus Stoinis (Retirement)
So, without Pat Cummins Aussies will be led by their premium batter Steve Smith. There will be a new team altogether except few players. We will have to see how their inexperienced fast bowlers will perform in Pakistan.

Australian Team's Strengths

  • Quality batters

Aussies have quality batters in their squad like Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Travis Head, and Marnus Labuchagne. They have the ability and class to perform at the top level in mega-events. Moreover, they have exciting talents like Jack Fraser Mcgurk, Mathew Short, and Josh Inglis. So, these all make up a good exciting batting lineup.
  • Good All-rounders

They have Glenn Maxwell who is one of the best all-rounders in the world right now. He will play the finisher role in the team. His performance with bat against Afghanistan in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is ranked as one of the best ODI innings of all time. Glenn Maxwell has single-handedly won many matches for Australia. Moreover, they have Aron Hardie on their side who is a young exciting all-rounder.

  • Strong History in The ICC Events

Australia is the most successful team when it comes to The ICC events. They have 10 ICC Trophies in their cabinet. They are the most dominant team in ICC events. No matter which Aussies team is playing the tournament, In the ICC events we have always witnessed their formidable performances and a never-die attitude, especially in knockout games. So, history will favor them once again.

Australian Team's Weaknesses

  • New Fast Bowling Attack

Australia will enter into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 without their pace trio Mitchel Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood so it will be a new pace attack altogether. They will be replaced by Spencer Johnson, Nathon Ellis, and Sean Abbott.  These replacements are good but all are new to the international circuit so will have to see how well they will perform in The ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

  • Dependence on Star Players

Without Key players, there will be too much dependence on star players like Steve Smith, Travis Head, Marnus Labuscghane, and Glenn Maxwell. If these players cannot get the best of their form Australian batting line will crumble badly. We will have to see how well the star players handle the pressure without their Speed Star trio.

  • New Captain to lead

Australia will be without their ICC World Cup 2023-winning Captain Pat Cummins so, Steve Smith will lead the troops in his absence. Although Steve Smith has captained Australia before it was 3 years ago. It will be a big challenge for the veteran, So, we will have to see how he will lead his troops, especially without key fast bowlers.

Key players to watch

The key players in the Australian side will be:

  • Steve Smith
  • Marnus Labuschagne
  • Travis Head
  • Glen Maxwell
  • Adam Zampa

Australia's strategy to win

As the ICC Champions Trophy is in Pakistan, Australian top spinner Adam Zampa will have to play a crucial role in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. So, in the absence of premium fast bowlers, he will have to exploit the conditions and perform the senior role in the bowling attack. Australian top order will have to play an aggressive brand of cricket and set a good base for the middle order and finishers to set good totals. Senior batters Travis Head, Steve Smith,  Marnus Labuschagne, and Glenn Maxwell will have to step up to take Aussies all the way to glory.

What do experts say about Australia?

A team like Australia is always a dominant force in the ICC Events so although their few players are missing still history is on their side, if their young fast bowlers are mature enough to fire at the big stage then no one can stop Aussies from the ultimate goal. They will enter the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as a strong contender.
